I'm Back

No, really, I am.

You guys of course know all about the radiothon.

I'm very sad about Charles McCord leaving today. Charles was one of my favorite parts of the show - he had a great rapport with Imus and is a very funny and talented gentleman. I really wish he could stay; I also wish him the best.

Hi CG, for some reason I figured you would be here for Charles' send-off. I'm happy for him but sad for the rest of us! Good luck Chuck, have a great retirement!

I am glad you are back. There is something fishy about Charles leaving so abruptly. And I hope it isn't a medical problem. I will miss him immensely because of the interaction with Imus. Hope Connell will fit in. This morning it wasn't the same.

CG --

No news why Charles left? Do you think either he or a family member is ill? Just as Warner watches closely (his FBI training) to pick up on cues, body language, etc. I too have watched, looking for a clue as to why I feel there is more to the story. It seemed to me that Imus did not want Charles to leave. He said on Friday that Charles didn't give him much notice and no choice. It was in response to Warner's joke about Charles' seat. That was the first time I felt that either Imus understands Charles' reason and accepted it, or maybe he doesn't.

Do you think Imus thought the two of them would walk out of the place at the same time -- did they have a gentlemen's agreement, but for some reason Charles wanted out early? For a team who has been tighter than brothers for 40 years there was no emotion or deep friendship on display. Maybe they wanted it that way. No PDA -- but I thought the other guys were suddently still and quiet about it. Maybe Imus or some of the guys were not happy that Charles was breaking up a very successful team. Something felt hinky to me.

Today for the first time ever I felt sorry for Imus. He didn't feel well -- his head stiched up and hurting, wondering how the shakeup would work out -- and I thought he was wonderful. He felt better by the hour and by the end they all sounded pretty happy with their first outing.

Connell is going to be fine IMO, and Dagen and Bernie lent some extra laughs at the jokes which filled in for some of Charles' banter. I give them an A for A damn fine beginning.

Sorry for the novella -- it's late and I've had my cocktail. But CollegeGirl, have you heard anything. Is Charles okay?

During the run-up to Charles' departure, I kept thinking of his wife, Connie.

She used to be mentioned fairly often, but lately nothing. Although on Friday, Imus did refer to Charles being married to his (Charles') sister... but still Connie's name was not mentioned.

Another thing I noticed is that all the talk of Charles retiring to Arkansas to fish has inferred that Charles would be going solo.

Hello CG (and DogFart)

Thought Imus was fun today. Noticed a shoutout of sorts to DogFart.

I hope Charles is catching some big ones out there in his boat, all by himself. Good point about the send-off never mentioning anything about Charles' wife.

When Imus talked today about Charles' case of shingles, the other guys were silent -- it seems to me they've been silent about Charles from the day he announced his retirement. Maybe what brought on the shingles also brought on the retirement.

Hope Charles is okay. I do think Connell is doing great--from the side shot, his hair swoops back like Charles'. Glad the show is hoppin'.

A Great Big Fat Happy Birthday to The Robio, born May 18, 1957.

Rob, you get better and better, funnier and funnier with age. Thanks for keeping the tears of laughter flowing for us for all these years.

I am very worried about Charles McCord. That seems so unlike him to leave and it seems that everyone is tight-lipped about it. I had read somewhere on line that Lou Dobbs commented "Charles McCord hasn't called Imus in a month." What in the world is going on? Something is really "off" here and I am not sure that even Don Imus knows. If you hear anything else, please post. I am going to miss Charles McCord!

Forget "Caylee's Law". Where the hell is the McCord Law? Imus not being in contact with Charles is criminal.

Found this blog while looking for any updated info since Imus keeps mentioning that no one has heard from Charles. Very strange - something must have happened that put Charles over the edge one last time for them not to talk.

What's up with Charles? I wish we knew...

RIP Fred! Another sad day for Imus fans.

So sad hearing of Fred's passing. He was a American original.

WABC radio is doing a "Best of Fred Imus" show this morning.

My condolences to Fred's family, friends and fans.

Perhaps with the passing of Fred, Charles will break down and call the I-man and stop with the silent treatment.

If anyone has heard anything about why Charles left and has no contact with Imus please post. This is a real mystery. Imus mentions from time to time that he has never heard from Charles since he left, even when Fred died.
