Items of Note

- Sean Hannity's going to do his "Imus Ranch Special" thing on his program tonight, so tune in, 9/8 central, etc. Should be fun.

- Also, here's a random nice article about the Ranch from the New York Times.

-And finally, just when you thought Neil Best had stopped being rumorlicious...

It would be great news, not surprised it was Neil Best, he is the Best.

Neil Best gets some of his 'inside' info from reading CG's Blog, no doubt...

He has no NEW news that hasn't been already 'rumored' here...

Good yuks from today's show were ably provided by Bill from White Plains! Great to hear from that guy, Bill...

I've heard Fox Business is really not doing very well. I still don't see how an Imus thing would make sense for them. If they ever hope to compete with CNBC they have to be able to do business stuff against Squawk Box prior to the market open.

Any thoughts??

Re: the Hannity interview...

some of it will be an 'emotional interview', so have plenty of tissue on hand.

...and 'you get to see Hannity on a horse.'

Tonight on Fox News at 9:00 PM Eastern, 8:00 Central. Sean Hannity airs his visit to the Imus Ranch For Children With Cancer and Blood Disorders.

Yeah Bill from White Plains!

Thanks everyone, I'm looking forward to the Ranch special too. I also can't wait to see Hannity ridin' that bronco. :-)

Who knows how Fox Business could turn out, if it's true. I will say this: the program would go from appearing on a channel that I don't get (RFD), to appearing on a channel that I still don't get, but could receive if I bought a higher cable package (Fox Biz). So it's a start!

You're not missing anything on RFDTV. The program is very poorly produced. The audio and video are both terrible.

FBN would not trade market prep talk for a washed up cowboy griping on nothing. They could try time shifting the program until evening, but Imus won't go for that either.

So, you may be stuck with a radio only program in 67 cities and online.

Today, Bernie and the crew are having a lively, fun show. Why? Imus is NOT there!

I put the video up on my blog for the Imus Ranch Special last night Fox uploaded to their You Tube Account.

As Imus said last night, in the Hannity interview.."I'm older than dirt"...

Funny how Imus and everyone else on IITM used to make fun of all those aging Rock Stars/Bands who refuse to quit performing as they got into that 60 year old age bracket...

DL said...

I thought the interview was pretty decent and came off ok. Imus is definitely showing his age, however. Hannity did a nice job.

CG said...

I liked the interview too. They weren't even two minutes in, and they were already threatening to throw each another in the wood chipper. I would've loved to see the faces of viewers who aren't accustomed to the program. :-)

Rumors are flying.....

Unfortunately, I'm in the same boat as CG, in regard to receiving RFD and FBN...

Sirius used to simulcast FBN, but they took it off a few months ago...

Maybe, at least with FBN, Imus will have a better, bigger studio to work out of...

some places do FBN live: http://goalfanzine-live.co.tv/live/Fox-Business-News.mms.html?&i=loans%20investment%20flights%20travel%20business

FYI from today's NY Daily News on RFDTV and Fox Business.

Looking further, there are a bunch of publications covering this over the past 24 hours. Looks like the rumours are heating up.

Wish they would drop those 'best of Imus' interviews when Bernie is hosting...just when a person gets into Bernie's wit, wisdom and stuff, they cut away to one of those month old Imus interviews...

very annoying. If they're going to let Bernie host, let Bernie do the ENTIRE show!

I think I'm in the rare position of having RFD, but not FBN. DirecTV seems to be just giving away RFD, while Fox Biz is in a more expensive package.

:/

This is all very exciting...thanks for sending me the articles. :-) I wonder when this deal will be finalized?

I listened to Friday's program and I enjoyed it, but I agree, I liked it when they kept the flow of conversation going and didn't do the taped interviews. I didn't mind the taped comedy bits, though.

I hate to hear that about DirecTv. Mike...I don't have it, but I've always wanted it because it seems like a great system. It's weird, because I know some people who can get FBN, Bloomberg, and all the other obscure news stations despite having just the basic package. Maybe it's because they're in a different market? Who knows.

CG said...

...but hey, if you don't get FBN, you can always watch it live right here:

Thanks to the commenter who posted that :)

The FBN link to watch live works great -- does anyone know if you can record/tape(?) it to watch later?

Can't believe the I-Man is going to be on the teevee and computer for our viewing pleasure. Listening is great too, but watching the guys is fun.

I hope he has enough room in this studio to have Levon, Delbert and his other buddies perform live. And as always, more Fred please.

Yo, check it out...

"A source close to the deal tells Wall Street Pit, the ‘Imus in the Morning’ program will feature multiple breaking business news alerts throughout each hour, topics of discussion will be increasingly business focused and FBN anchors will regularly appear on the show to break down the pre-market news. In addition, two thirds of the screen will feature business news and market tickers through the lower thirds and HD wing."

CG said...

Two-thirds of the screen covered by tickers? Wow. Either this really is a "radio" program, or FBN doesn't have any "hot news anchors" like their sister station. ;-)

No, seriously, that's really neat news. The story gets more and more interesting as the details come out.
