This Made Me Laugh

From the “Headlines,” July 24 edition:

"Cambridge, Mass. Bomb squad responds to Central Square post office. Suspicious package emitting a 'humming' noise. Building evacuated as demolition team slowly, gingerly peeled back tape, cardboard. Inside – nose hair trimmer. Battery powered. Addressed to MIT staff member. Whether 'gift'… or 'hint'… not determined."

And, "Amy Winehouse set to become latest celebrity to launch her own perfume. Rehab singer, back in Britain after an extended stay in the Caribbean, is said to be hoping to land a deal worth more than $750,000 to offer a product that will 'reflect her style.' Dear god.. What, 'Essence of Porcelain Bus'..?"

Did these make you laugh? If so, yay. If not, post something else.

Cambridge, Mass.?

hmm, isn't that the place where, if you harass a police officer, President Obama will invite you to the White House for a beer?

Cambridge, the home of overblown police incidents and guys who don't trim their nose hairs? Sounds like a party town!

I know a bunch of us think that they're in a slump right now, but if they continue to write lines like Comment #2, then things should get better. :-)

Haha, a "slump." Maybe Laurie Cantillo should start channeling Mets' manager Jerry Manuel after the show:

"Welllll, uhhh, I feel we have enough people to turn this thang around. Hehehehehhhhh."

Has Imus mentioned that Sean Hannity will be out to the Ranch later this week...gonna interview Imus ...gonna tell the whole story about the Ranch.

Cool, no?

Haha, I LOLed because I read that Jerry Manuel line in the same voice that he uses during Warner's cuts. If Mr. Manuel could fire the Imus staff member who takes off his shirt and challenges people to fistfights, then randomly make accusations at reporters, and then hit a brilliant comedic "grand slam"...and do it all within 24 hours or so...then I would be fine with that. :-)

I think it's great that Hannity is going out to the Ranch - that'll get them a lot of publicity. I can't wait to see the interview.

The David Gregory rant during the Greenfield interview was terrific. Thought Greenfield was going to have heart failure. Good stuff.

Interesting tidbit. I noticed that Karith has been removed from the "blog list" on Imus.com. I guess she's gone????

Not to mention any reference to the Imus program has been removed from her blog. Karith.com

I've been listening to Bob Rivers in Seattle of late... the parodies, interviews and overall programming is far better than Imus. Imus meanwhile, is still on in another room, so unless Rob comes on, I don't hear the program.

The "race" conversation has been going on since the 1960's and this "wise Latina woman" is moving on...

Karith finally go the hint, huh? lol
Well, good luck to her, wherever she winds up...

Deirdre to Don, last nite..."Nothing is amusing anymore".

No, there is plenty that is funny, otherwise we wouldn't have so many comedians. Albany,Cambridge, even Obama is up for grabs. It's just that Imus, in his coccoon in NM chooses not to see it as funny. His show reflects that. Supposed to be a "current events" type of program that features no current events.

Did he really say the "program is better" today? I shut off the radio at 830 am.

No question Imus seems distracted and bored a good bit of the time. He only really pays attention when it's someone he really likes like Jack Jacobs.

Al said...

well, this made me laugh...
Today, Imus, in an attempt to be hip, engaged Tony in a discussion about race relations...

lol, it took Tony about 20 seconds before he referred to a policeman as a "bitch"...

Now I understand why Imus hardly ever engages Tony in conversation.

Hmmm, I just checked Karith's Facebook page and it says she's still employed there...so who knows.

Jack Jacobs is an all-around great guy, and everyone loves a good "phony David Gregory" rant...unless you're the guest caught unawares at the other end of the phone. :-)

According to the NY radio board, her profile has been removed from the WABC radio website.

That's sure proof she's off the program.

If Karith is really gone, it's a win-win-win situation: for the show, the fans, and for Ms. Foster herself.

I had somewhat high hopes when she was first introduced. Maybe it was because I was just so giddy that Imus was back. But I think I felt that she would have a bigger role in calling Imus out on certain things, and cause a sort of fun friction.

The curious cat in me will want to know if Herbert the snake ever got out and ate the chihuahua, or if Matt's back hair is still creating hoodies for Tony Dolphano's family. But the show is better off. Sweetheart of a woman, but not meant for this program.

And for the record, I think Tony has great potential and would be at his best if he stayed in the studio for the whole show, so that he could naturally jump into the dialogue with the rest of the crew.

Too funny he isn't supposed to be politically correct. Imus doesn't want to turn off the RFD TV viewers?

I am looking forward to the Hannity interview.

I like Karith, the best of luck to her.

those phone calls provided some of the funniest moments on IITM.
