4/4

So today's the anniversary of "the unpleasantness." (Actually, that's inaccurate; the real "unpleasantness" didn't come until the following week.) But hey, why spend our Saturday whining about stuff that happened two years ago? It's a beautiful spring day; the weather is warming up; the Final Four's on tonight; things are good. (We'll save our whining for next week, when it's Hump Day and it's raining.)

So instead of complaining, today I'll show you something awesome. Go to here and here and click on the "Flash video" button. You'll thank me later. :)

(Also: on the first video you may have to fast forward for about an hour or so, because the sound is messed up at the beginning. It makes everyone sound like they've been possessed by demons. Well, maybe by more demons than usual.)

Those C-SPAN simulcasts of Imus in the Morning really were GREAT because even when Imus went into commercial break, C-SPAN would keep the cameras and sound rolling...

The stuff that goes on DURING commercial breaks is/was some of the most hilarious Imus in the Morning that you will ever see/hear!

Thanks for those 'flash-backs', CG!

What's with the audio thing on the first clip? Can't understand a thing anybody's saying?

CG said...

Yuck...I don't know why it sounds like that at the beginning. It straightens out when you get further into the clip. I'll update the entry and mention that.

Back in 1994, when there was basically just Imus, Chuck, Bernie and Lou, Imus in the Morning was pretty effective radio, no?!

ah, the good ole days...

Just got back from NC, and actually got a chance to SEE Imus on RFD...

It's...dreadful. Over the head camera angles, commercials in wrong places (which could explain a lot)Almost wish CSpan could take them back.

Al said...

Yeah, Imus hardly ever mentions RFD anymore...heard they are moving from the Rainbow studios...Imus gonna do the show from WABC studios now.

lotta interesting changes going on with Imus in the Morning.

Haha, Pat, you mean you didn't love the RFD-TV Rural News Update?

As someone who lives in Queens, whose Manhattanite friends refer to my borough as farmland, I consider animal husbandry a central part of my life.

Why is Imus in the Morning moving from the Rainbow Studios? They being evicted? Can't pay the rent? Is Citadel broke?

Wow, they might be forced to broadcast from Fred's Trailer if their financial situation gets worse...

Al,

Where did you hear they were moving?

I take that back, I just listened to my podcast... lol

My friend is one of the technical people from the Rainbow studios. he was actually let go last week, and said this week was a gift from Cablevision. Apparently, the move across the street is RFD driven, and not ABC. Patrick hasn't been paying his bills. They will broadcast from ABC, not unlike as it was in the early days of MSNBC, and CSPAN.
Where are the bits? Has the censure issue situation been resolved? Muzzling Rob and Tony is not in the best interests of the program. Although the Charles/Imus banter is amusing, it's getting rapidaly tedious and forced.

I still can't believe they through over Larry for Kareth.

What's going on with Karith, Tony, and Rob being off the set? And I thought Larry retired, I didn't realize he was forced out?

And lastly, why wasn't Patrick paying his bills? Imus is right; it IS a step down.

I'm sick for a week and how much I miss!

Al said...

Imus said he put Karith "off set because she was a distraction and wasn't contributing anything"...

and Tony just doesn't even seem to be around...anywhere.

I'm totally of the impression that Imus is definitely interested in adding replacement(or additional) comedians...you know, comedians who are funny EVERY time they say something.

...and RFD was a nice try, but it ain't working out...

When Neil Cavuto is on it reminds me of when Tim Russert who used to appear on the program weekly....I know Russert isn't a replaceable personality. But Imus had a niche in his program that Russert filled.

Neil Cavuto reminds me of that niche not being filled. I wish FBN would pick up the simulcast for Imus In The Morning it's a nice fit....

Since I like Radio in the first place, I really like the idea of the WABC studio :) I will miss the street level window.

What Patrick didn't get any Bail Out Money? ;)

Friday morning Imus was complementing the Rainbow Studios ... "great people to work with, great facility" etc, etc. Then he added "but it's very expensive here, which is why we're moving."

If the WABC studios are as cramped as the WFAN studios were maybe it will force a cutback in the number of on-air folks appearing on any given day.

I always preferred it being a radio program with television cameras present rather than a radio program done from a TV studio. C-SPAN did the best job of simulcasting Imus.

BTW, did anyone hear the phone calls from Dwight Yoakum around 8:00 ET Friday morning? I missed them but a coworker who came into work after I did said it was hilarious.

It seems Dwight called to wish Imus well, then proceeded to give Imus his home and cell phone numbers (which were bleeped out on the air). Dwight calls back to say those numbers were wrong and proceeded to give Imus the right numbers. Then Dwight calls a third time to say those numbers were also wrong and gave new numbers.

The studio news is disappointing to hear... but I'm hoping that some good can come out of it, at least initially. Like, maybe having everyone in the same room could make the chemistry a little better, or something like that. We'll find out bright and early on Monday morning.

I'll write more later, but for now - happy Easter!

The program is going from bad...to hideous. No wonder the show is now "free" ( as in barter) for any station's taking. It's only a matter of time before it's off TV (again)

Hey Mike, didn't you know QUEENS has a farm?
"The Queens County Farm Museum dates back to 1697; it occupies New York City's largest remaining tract of undisturbed farmland, and is the only working historical farm in the city..."

Citadel is selling for 3 cents a share ...and Suleman just got a nice 6 mil paycheck, down from 11 mil:
According to the company’s calculation of total compensation, Suleman received $6,081,890 in 2008, down from $11,215, 925 in 2007....

The CEO received the same base salary of $1.25 million and no bonus..."

Yes, those Dwight Yoakum phone calls were pretty amusing!
"..Dwight's been trying to walk thru too many low doors"..Chuck McCord.

Personally, I thought the show was getting better, now that Imus is phasing out certain cast members...

I-Man knows what works and what doesn't and what is funny and what isn't funny...just takes time to get things organized.

Haha, Dwight is special...

...and I had no idea that animal husbandry was so popular in Queens. :-)
