This is so sad and so unexpected It seems so unreal. God Bless Tim Russert and his family.

What's also sad is that he was known for those "Big Russ" fatherhood books, and he ended up dying two days before Father's Day...

Also: WTF is with all the people on the Internet who are cheering on his death? Not Imus fans (at least, not that I've seen), but tons of people on political junkie websites going "Yay, now I don't have to see his stupid whiteboard again." Um...could it wait?

Who's cheering this on? I cannot believe that. Sad day. I'm still in shock.

He was and is my favorite journalist, yes, even more than Charles. One of the most painful results of last April was that while I was really mad at Mr. Russert for "betraying" Imus, I couldn't turn away from Meet the Press. One of the things for which I most thankful with the return of the show was when Imus brought him back on board. To think, eight days ago was the last time we'll ever hear, "Good morning, Mr. Russert. Good morning, Mr. Imus"

And WTF indeed, CG. I really want to bust some heads right now.

P.S. I was flipping between Hannity and Mike and the Mad Dog just as I heard the news, and Mike Francesa was talking about how close he used to be with Mr. Russert and that he sort of regrets not reconciling with him after the fallout between M&MD and Russert after the firing last year. Apparently Mr. Russert tried to reach out to them a few times, but they never got around to meeting.

I know there have been some real low class comments, you wonder where those folks are dwelling?

BUT I have not been reading anything but shock and sadness from Imus Fans. I was reading Hot Air and Michelle Malkin's blog everyone is sad and honestly can't believe that he is gone.

CG,

Check out Michelle Malkin's blog for example this is a political blog but I read nothing but respect and sadness for Tim Russert.

Fortunately, I don't think that the majority of the comments were terrible. I heard the news about 10 minutes after it was announced, and I immediately started looking around on the Internet. It seems that right after the news was announced, you saw a lot of cynical hipster douches trying to be "witty" in the comments. Especially in places like Gawker, which reminded me once again why I rarely read gawker.

Mike, that is crazy about M&MD...thanks for posting that. It really, really puts things in
perspective. (And was it really 8 days ago when he last appeared?)

Tonight I'm watching NBC Nightly News in full for the first time in over a year, and I'm bringing the tissues...

PS: This is interesting. I just googled "Tim Russert," and according to Google, one of the top related searches for him is "Tim Russert Don Imus." I wonder what that means...

You know, CG, that's what I did...I googled 'Tim Russert Don Imus'...

People are anxious to know what Imus has to say...

I'm so glad that Tim's last appearance on Imus was more like the old days. There was a more relaxed, friendly tone to the interview.
Godspeed to a good American & God Bless those who mourn.
