"Mike and the Mad Dog" May Be Finished

That's what Neil Best claims in this story. In fact, he intones, "they may have already done their final show together."

Why? Apparently for very high-school-ish reasons; their relationship has deteriorated over the past few months.

I seriously doubt that this will happen, but I would really hate to see them split up. It would be sad for their fans; it would be even sadder for those whose financial situation is tied to WFAN. First Imus, now this? Yikes...

WFAN is totally LOST without Imus...

like a ship without a rudder...or a rock n' roll band with out their band leader...

Imus kept that WFAN bunch together and disciplined.

or something.

Interesting article, but I'm not quite sure I buy them splitting up. They've really never been the best of friends, and they've gotten through times of hating each other off-the-air while still being able to sit in the same room from 1-6:30pm. As recently as last year, when there was speculation that they would split up, with one of them taking over the morning spot, Russo likened themselves to married couple after 20 years: It would feel very strange being apart.

Yet something to consider is that the I-Man brought them together in the first place...Perhaps he was the glue at WFAN that held them together?

P.S. ::Off topic but this is driving me crazy:: My dumb laptop decided to update itself overnight Thursday and didn't record Bernard subbing. I'm guessing this wasn't broadcasted nationally because I can't find the podcast anywhere? Did anyone happen to catch it?

I'd be eternally grateful if anyone had the file to send me: mjslagus@gmail.com. :)

Mike, if you don't receive the file, you might try listening to KTBL this evening. I believe they will stream at least part of Friday's show, Check the Schedule on that web site, if you go, for the exact time Imus replay will be broacdcast.

Yeah, it's definitely true that they haven't been the best of friends for awhile. I would hope that they could come to their senses and pull them selves together. I tried to listen to the internet "scream" of their show today, and it took forever to load - you can tell that a lot of people were listening to see what they would say about it.

On another note, did Imus and Co. say anything about George Carlin this morning? I missed this morning's show, bad job outta me.

CG,

Imus announced George Carlin's death this morning, and Bernie added comments about how Carlin was such a down-to-earth person. I'm very upset about Mike and the Mad Dog. I started listening to them years ago after work because my station had been set to WFAN in the morning and I like sports. They both were so supportive during the controversy last year with Imus. What do you think of the newest controversy about Imus' comments this morning regarding Pacman Jones? Here we go again. . . I don't know how much more of this I can take.

Thanks for the summary, Esme! I didn't know what happened this morning, and it sounds like it was pretty good.

Like you, I can't believe that this is happening again, and I REALLY don't want to relive last year... hopefully it won't reach that level of insanity. We'll have to see what they do tomorrow, and see if the press still cares about it. Seriously, we have so many problems in this country right now that this does not deserve any airtime at all and I HOPE that the public won't tolerate this kind of crap for news.
