Trick Or Treat

Happy Halloween!

For a treat, I offer a partial aircheck of the Imus in the Morning program, dated August 25, 1977. (Big thanks to Airchexx.com.) In truth, the aircheck should be called "Imus in the Morning, plus three hours of hideous commercials." Seriously. Among other things, the commercials tell us about German beer, Pan Am flights to Scandinavia (?), something about how Communist spies know all about Babe Ruth, and some tragicially bad French accents. Plus, there's like a 20-minute long commercial with people singing "Cheese, glorious cheese," and listening to it makes you want to hurt someone.

But hey - it's vintage Imus. Enjoy.

In keeping with today's festivities, I enclose a photo of a pumpkin carved in the likeness of Terry Bradshaw. Can I explain why someone carved a Terry Bradshaw jack o'lantern? No, I cannot.

Wow - Imus said about 2 words in the whole segment - of course he probably had a hangover.

Hard to believe THAT show was so popular, but it was still the best thing on in the morning - hence all the advertisers. Thanks for the vintage audio.

Yeah, I will admit the lack of actual "show" on that tape pretty much sucks. It was either that aircheck, or another aircheck that I wanted to save for later. I didn't really care for the audio here either.

But the website I got it from said something akin to, "Even if you hate Imus's show now, you'll love this!" So I assumed someone out there would like it. Maybe someone did, LOL.

That said, I hope I haven't scared anyone away with that jack o'lantern...:-)

His music selections have definitely improved too - but it was fun to listen. Funny how he was more of a DJ then, even though he played short segments of most of the songs.

Let's hope we'll have the 2007 Imus back with his whole crew soon! It's disturbing that we still have no details - I may have to line up different media providers, etc and I would like some notice. I can't figure out how to use my computer as an alarm clock in the bedroom; I used to set MSNBC for 6 AM and listen to IMan on the TV for close to an hour before actually getting up.

Oh well, we'll work it all out.

Don't worry, imusfan, you may get, like, 2 days notice from one of your local radio stations on whether or not they will be carrying the Imus show...

Anyway, WABC listeners have all the details that are necessary...
Dec 3rd...IMUS

Al, as for the jack o'lantern, I'm just thankful they didn't carve the image on Terry's album cover, the one where he has that 70's shirt and the love pendant...now THAT would be disturbing...

Imusfan, I wish I knew when they're going to make the announcement, so that the viewers could make all the arrangements in regards to television, radio, etc.

And the music on the aircheck WAS the bottom of the barrel. It was like the worst of 70s soft rock. I had some serious questions about the playlist choice. For example, the first song he played went something like "She was 16, too young to love me." And I was like, "Why are we playing songs about pedophiles?"

I guess as long as Curtis and Kuby continue in the mornings on WABC, there won't be any official announcement?

maybe Curtis and Kuby will go all the way to Nov 30th, which is a Friday...then Imus takes over Monday, Dec 3rd?..pretty convenient scheduling, if that happens...

New month, new week, new Morning program(Imus)
